Stadt Emden is working on ambitious plans for the inner harbour area.  Part of this is to develop a site at Devils Island for construction & repair of historic vessels.

A replica Tjalk which was constructed beside the harbour was launched in October 2005.  This vessel will now be completed and will then be used by young people for sail training.
